Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar (dark)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and softened butter until crumbly. Press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan evenly.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together brown sugar and eggs until well blended; then stir in the vanilla extract. Pour this filling over the crust in the pan. If using walnuts or raisins, sprinkle them on top.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the center is slightly wobbly.
  5. Allow to cool completely before slicing into squares.
