Description

Spicy Tuna Tartare on Crispy Wonton Chips is an elegant yet easy appetizer that brings restaurant vibes straight to your home kitchen. Fresh, sushi-grade tuna is diced and tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce, then served atop golden, crunchy wonton chips. Perfect for parties, date nights, or when you’re craving a little sushi-style indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

For the spicy tuna tartare:

  • 8 oz sushi-grade ahi tuna, diced into small cubes
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (Japanese Kewpie preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon lime juice

For the wonton chips:

  • 1215 wonton wrappers, cut diagonally into triangles
  • Cooking spray or neutral oil for brushing
  • Sea salt, for seasoning

For garnish (optional but recommended):

  • Diced avocado
  • Thinly sliced radish
  • Microgreens or chopped cilantro
  • Extra sesame seeds
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the wonton chips:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Arrange wonton wrappers in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
    • Lightly spray or brush with oil and sprinkle with sea salt.
    • Bake for 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy. Let cool.
  2. Make the spicy tuna tartare:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha, soy sauce, sesame oil, and lime juice.
    • Gently fold in diced tuna, green onion, and sesame seeds. Mix until evenly coated.
    • Taste and adjust heat level by adding more sriracha if desired.
  3. Assemble and serve:
    • Spoon about 1 tablespoon of tuna tartare onto each wonton chip.
    • Garnish with diced avocado, radish slices, microgreens, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds if using.
    • Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Always use fresh, sushi-grade tuna from a trusted source.
  • For extra crunch, you can also air fry the wonton chips at 350°F for 3-4 minutes.
  • You can make the wonton chips ahead of time, but assemble just before serving to avoid sogginess.
